【摘要】:1.1Thisspecificationcoverstherequirementsforacoatingofcadmiummechanicallydepositedonmetalproducts.Thecoatingisprovidedinvariousthicknessesuptoandincluding12m.1.2Mechanicaldepositiongreatlyreducestheriskofhydrogenembrittlementandissuitableforcoatingboresandrecessesinmanypartsthatcannotbeconvenientlyelectroplated(see).1.3Cadmiumcoatingsareusuallyappliedtoprovideengineeringpropertiesandcorrosionresistance.Theperformanceofacadmiumcoatingdependslargelyonitsthicknessandthekindofenvironmenttowhichitisexposed.Withoutproofofsatisfactorycorrelation,acceleratedtestssuchasthesaltspray(fog)testcannotbereliedupontopredictperformanceinotherenvironments,norwilltheseserveascomparativemeasuresofthecorrosionresistanceaffordedbycoatingsofdifferentmetals.Thus,althoughthereisamarkedsuperiorityofcadmiumcoatingsoverzinccoatingsofequalthicknessinthesaltspraytest,thisisoftennotthecaseunderconditionsofuse,sothatfurthertestingintheserviceenvironmentshouldbeconducted.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecificprecautionarystatements,see1.5and1.6.1.4Cadmiumistoxicandmustnotbeusedinacoatingforarticlesthatcancomeintocontactwithfoodorbeverages,orfordentalorotherequipmentthatcanbeinsertedintothemouth.Consultappropriateagenciesforregulationsinthisconnection.1.5Becauseofthetoxicityofcadmiumvaporsandcadmiumoxidefumes,cadmium-coatedarticlesmustnotbeusedattemperaturesof320176;Candabove.Theymustnotbewelded,spot-welded,soldered,orotherwisestronglyheatedwithoutadequateventilationthatwillefficientlyremovealltoxicfumes.
